Each class segment starts with a proper dancer's warm up, and concludes with cooling down stretches and proper breathing exercises.

Proper class attire: Comfortable clothing that you can move in freely and be able to do the floor barre (floor exercises) in.  If you have dance leotards and tights, unitards or gym wear, these would be best to practice in.  Dance shoes or ballet slippers are optional and left to your discretion.  Since the dance studio has a marley floor covering, barefeet are fine.  The student's safety and comfort are our main objective.

Hip sashes are encouraged and are available for purchase in class.

All students must have finger cymbals (zils) , no exceptions.  Please bring your own, or be ready to purchase a pair in class.  You will begin to learn to play finger cymbals from the very first class.  You will also learn to use dance veils and will need one for class.  There will be veils available for purchase in class.

In the beginner's class you will learn:

    Basic Bellydance steps and moves
    Basic Finger Cymbal playing
Basic manipulation of the dance veil
How to shimmy (shake) your hips and shoulders
You will learn one short Choreography, each six week semester
